Liner Notes
Hello, Sakitmoto here.

I think that with this sequel to FFT we have really been able to expand the fantasy in many ways; it is a far-away world, shocking, filled with conspiracies and treachery. I have to admit that while playing I was half in doubt, anxiously waiting for this cute-looking Mewt to start spouting out foul language at some point. Actually, the core theme of this game has some very grave parts to it, amidst which the lead character, who is trying to move ahead being the voice of reason by suffering a little at the same time, and the sub-characters that surround him all remind of my childhood somewhere. When you become my age, you tend to look back at those times with a sense of nostalgia so on the musical side of things, I tried to get rid of my adult desires and did my best to express my feelings on the same line as the main character.

The Composition Camp of FFT-A has a line-up of surprisingly big names as well, I got the main theme from Mr. Uematsu whom we all know and love, and I even got help from Mrs. Sasou and Mrs. Oukoshi from Super Sweep Ltd. run by Mr. Hosoe. I was awestruck by the fantastic main theme I received from Mr. Uematsu and I was greatly pleased by the terrific music I got from those pretty ladies from Super Sweep as well, which made the production progress a blast, and because it wasn't like we worked together on this without any conversation going on between us, I really got to feeling the professionalism of these three people in the process of deciding the musical direction we wanted to go in. I bow my head to them in gratitude.

Thanks to the people from Square's Forth Development Team and the people from the Record Company, we have been able to present with this soundtrack CD both the original sound and a MIDI sound. Thanks to all FFT-A programmers we have been able to create this music under considerably better circumstances than with the GBA Ogre Gaiden series but even so in the creation of this music, not only were there restraints in the amount of sounds, but the combinations of instruments were limited as well, and so we decided to include this MIDI sound as well, to relieve frustration. I hope this will help enhance the drama you experienced in the game.

In charge of the main sound effects this time was Jun Nakamura, famed for his excellent SFX in FFT and Vagrant Story. Once again he has provided great back-up, assistance and overall support whilst creating his lively sound effects. Furthermore, I wish to thank Mr. Murasawa, the director, and Mr. Matsuno, the producer, deeply for giving me the chance to participate in this heart-warming project.

Alright, I tried to create FFT-A while fantasizing about the tings everyone will think of when they play this game. If only a fraction of my thoughts have come across to you, then there is no greater happiness for me.

Composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto

When composing music I get my inspiration from all kinds of stuff. That could be anything from the dramatic value of the story, for instance, or a half-completed piece of illustration, to something the director told me. Of course, I first combine the impressions I get from all these things and then ultimately give them one shape, but the single most influential factor is the scenario (text), I think. The music I composed this time, too, was triggered by the opening lines in the documents I was handed at the beginning:

"That day, my town ceased to be the way I knew it...A group of elves frantically dancing around a fountain, an old sorcerer teaching strange spells to children, a grotesque race selling well-tempered battle swords on the streets, the 'Judges' with their silvery-white armor, mounted on their Chocobos hastily rushing through the streets, and, a grand Dragon soaring through the sky. That was a world I knew from RPG's. That was the world of 'swords and magic' I myself created..."

Words that are easy to form a picture to, even without music, right? I hope that my sorry excuse for music somehow matches your world views of this game without destroying the beautiful scenery.

(Nobuo Uematsu)

Helly everybody, nice to meet you! I took part in creating a couple of compositions this time, but since this is a big title after all, and I got to work together with these two people whom I have a never-ending respect for, geez', the pressure was just terrible! And yet, if I can get you to recall the adventure you experienced through the main character, just by listening to my music, I will be happy.

(Super Sweep: Kaori Oukoshi) *composed: Unloosing Spirit; The Walls We Go Over; Beyond the Wild Plains; Unavoidable Destiny

I don't really like Simulation games...I dunno, maybe I'm just bad at moving people about or maybe I'm bad at giving orders, but I'm brought to my knees in no time, every time. No sense of Tactics... I, for one, was really surprised that someone like me was allowed to participate in a big title such as this. And I'm really glad that it gave me a chance to greet all of you in this way. It's only a couple of tracks, but I hope you'll enjoy them. Until we meet again!

(Super Sweep: Ayako Saso) *composed: In Amber Valley; Arduous Battle; The Battle for Hope; Mutual Destination
