When people think of F-Zero, most of them remember the great futuristic racing gameplay but forget the awesome music that set the tone of this early SNES title. This is definitely a shame, as F-Zero's soundtrack contains some truly pulse-pounding rock tracks that really distinguished the SNES as the console of choice for best sound quality.

As a treat for fans of the game and great guitar rock, Nintendo released a Guitar Arranged album based on 10 of the best tracks from the game. These tracks, which can best be described as speed metal, are meant to be played loudly on speakers with major ampage. "Crazy Call At Cry" is full of screaming guitars which transition into some short but cool drum solos, while "Decide in the Eyes" really focuses more on the bassline and some interesting synth chords. And "Climb Up! And Get The Last Chance!" uses a nice bit of organ synth to punctuate the aforementioned screaming guitar during its own little solos. It's one of the slower tracks, however, which is good as it's followed up by "Endless Challenge" which speeds things up to get your heart pumping. The nifty deviation into an echo-laden electric guitar solo just makes me smile.

Overall, this album with its ten tracks of great guitar arrangements is perfect driving music, especially on long straight-aways or highways (don't get pulled over, though). I highly recommend this album to all fans of fast guitar rock or F-Zero music, and as a nice alternative to the other F-Zero arranged album which, while enjoyable, is too "fusion" for most peoples' tastes. Get it if you can!

Bottom Line: A
